I think that Excel skills is one of the most important skills not only for students information technology in particular but also for students in general. And I'm believe that most of the companies are using Excel for their business so learning and researching Excel is necessary for yourself and future work. Do you agree with me? :)
The list below is a collection of Excel eBooks that are collected from Internet source.

Actually I use the "traditional" menu structure, not the ribbon, and somehow the ribbon "disappeared" but I'm sure that ribbon menu carries the same options.
I presume that Word 2013 has the same file options.
1. GUI: Tkinter is the standard GUI package, used by Idle for example, but there are wrappers for wxWidgets, Qt and others. I'd start with Tkinter, though. Take some of your better console programs and convert them to use a GUI.
2. Objects and classes. In the process above, you might find that there is some common code between console and GUI versions. This is a good spot to try some object-oriented design to create a common "core" code base that can be used with different user interfaces. If you haven't used classes and objects much, this is a good opportunity.
3. Web crawing. Python makes it easy to use HTTP and a few other protocols for access to web servers. If you know a little about HTML, then you could write your own 'bot to programmatically display something like weather at the beach, snow conditions at a ski area, display the today's Pearls Before Swine comic strip, etc. You might have to learn a little about images for that last bit, but I cheated with my Daily Dilbert app: I save the image file and launched a browser to display it.
The free Udacity CS101 course is an intro to computer science that builds a web crawler over what's planned as a 7-week course. https://www.udacity.com/course/cs101.
(Use the "Start free courseware" button for the free version with no certification. Requires a free registration and login to keep track of your progress.)
4. Try a game. The PyGame platform integrates nearly everything you need to make a decent 2D game, and there are many examples at http://www.pygame.org
5. 3-D, maybe? The free, open-source Blender 3-D design package has a 3-D game engine as a component, and it is scripted in Python, as well. See http://www.blender.org
In the future, name and save every document immediately after typing the very first word.
How can you expect good answers without at least telling us what Version of OS X you are currently using??? If OS X is older than Snow Leopard 10.6, please call Apple (1-800-myapple) and they will explain your Options.
And, unless your Mac PC is more than 4 years old, you should be using OS X Mavericks, needed to run the latest version of Safari (7.0).
The Apple Tech guys will help you through the upgrade process.
and use a strong password: 16letters including uppercase lowercase numbers and special symbols like"!@#$%() and don't make it something easy to guess.
if you do as above... it'll take couple years for someone to break into your wifi
i have barely used my phone today besides a couple texts and it's currently at 58% Ive probably lost 3% just typing this message.
Any idea what is going on? Should take it back?
You can get a new battery for the S4 for around $10. Just do a google search.
But, before you do, did you read all about Battery care and charging, in the Device's User Manual, yet?
They almost always recommend running the Battery flat before FULLY recharging it, for at least the first 3 or 4 times, then doing a FULL and deep recharge about once a week.
The budget Surface RT Model, with an ARM Processor, which only runs Apps available from the Windows App Store.
OR, the more expensive Surface Pro Model, with an Intel CPU, that runs all Apps available from the Windows App Store, AND, any other Apps that are certified to run on a full version of Windows 8.0, or 8.1, regardless of where you choose to download the software from.
For more info, look up your specific Adobe App's recommended System Requirements on Adobe.com.
$74.75 is your total cost ie unit cost * number of units. I think you may have been asked to calculate a mark-up percentage. So if you want to make 50% profit, your retail price per unit would need to be 2.99*150%, or just the mark-up 2.99*50% per unit.
Percentage can be written as 50% or .5 its the same thing. So in my first formula you could write 2.99*1.5. Write .25 in a cell and the click the percent sign in the number format box, where it says General. It will change to 25% which is a quarter; a quarter of 100.
If you are just asking for the formula for working out the total, then assuming column A has your Cost/unit and Column B is Units your formula would simply be.
It finds and lists every single Activation Code for every App installed on your PC.
get it here:
The first parameter is the number you want to convert into a dollar amount and the second parameter is the number of decimal places that will appear in the result.
This function will convert the following number:
Let’s say you start with this list of emails:
The first step would be to use a simple “equal” formula to copy the first email address into column C, like this...
Then in the second row, we take the string from the row above, add a comma to it and merge it with the email address to the left. Like this…
And finally, we use the fill handle to copy down the formula:
Let’s say you want to copy the first line of this table to the second line without ruining the formatting of the table…
You select the first line and press CNTRL+C to copy.
Then you place the cursor on Cell B4, but instead of pressing CNTRL+V to paste you select the ‘Paste Special’ option from the right click menu, like this:
Then you select ‘Values’ and get the desired result:
Step one – we figure out if each number is a multiple of 250
Is a logical condition. It returns true if A3 divided by 250 is equal the result of the ROUND function for the same number.
It will return FALSE if the numbers aren’t equal.
We then copy the formula to the rest of the column.
Now every number that is a multiple of 250 has TRUE in the adjoining cell on column C.
Step 2 – is very simple
The core of the formula:
Looks up the program according to the name entered in the cell right next to it
I used the IF() function to avoid looking up an empty value, which will return an error.
And this is the final formula:
=IF(TODAY()>A1+30,"30 Days have passed","30 Days have not passed")
You just need to replace 30 with 60 or 90 for the other formulas.
Since multiplying the full price by 45% will give you the cost of good sold, you can reverse the formula and divide the cost of goods sold by 45% and get the full price.
Then the total amount of shares would be 6,000,000
Then your formula would be
Let's solve this
3,000,000+y = 4,800,000+0.8Y
All you need to do is replace 3,000,000 with the amount the three shareholders hold. 6000000 with the total amount of shares and resolve the formula as shown above.
If you change them to apply to $A:$F, you get the conditional formatting to apply to the entire row.
In your case the formula would be something like this:
This way, even if you insert new rows, the range won't change.
=IF(ISERROR(FIND(" ",B1)),LEFT(B1,2),LEFT(B1,1) & MID(B1,FIND(" ",B1)+1,1))
This formula uses the FIND function to find whether the text contains a space. If it does it means that there are two words in the text, in that case, the formula returns the first letter of the first word (using the LEFT function) and the first letter of the second word (using the MID function).
The formula uses the ISERROR function to test if the string does not contain a space because the FIND function returns an error if it does not find the substring within the string.
This formula uses the function WEEKDAY to return the number of the current day returned by the function TODAY() within the week.
It then uses the CHOOSE function to convert that number into the corrosponding day text.
You can use the SUMIF function to add up only positive or only negative amounts...
Adding positive numbers
Adding negative numbers
But Excel does have a built in feature for this specific purpose. It's called 'Remove Duplicates' and you can find it on the 'Data' ribbon.
You can however use VBA to change a cell after a value has been entered into it by using the sheet's 'CHANGE' event. The following code will multiply the value you enter to cell A1 by 3 and place the result back into cell A1:
Dim blnUpdateInProgress As Boolean
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If blnUpdateInProgress Then Exit Sub
If ActiveSheet.Name = "Sheet1" And Target.Address = "$A$1" Then
blnUpdateInProgress = True
Range("A1").Value = Range("A1").Value * 3
blnUpdateInProgress = False
Note that I used a variable called blnUpdateInProgress. This is because whenever you change the value of a cell within VBA, it also triggers the sheet's change event.
In order to avoid going into an infinite loop, I set the blnUpdateInProgress flag to True before making the change to the cell. Then when the CHANGE event is triggered because of the following line, the sub exists immediatly without doing anything (because the flag is set). And then I set the flag back to FALSE so that next time someone changes cell A1 the sub will work.
If we assume your numbers are found in column A.
Then you can place your formula in cell B1, like so:
Just change the cell reference and the percent to your own values and you have your formula.
After you've entered the formula, you can copy it down to the rest of the cells on column B.
Put 100 in cell A1
Put the following formula in Cell A2
Copy Cell A2 to cells A3 through A100
Or by using the fill handle...
Put 100 in cell A1
Put 101 in cell A2
Select both cells and drag the fill-handle down all the way to cell A100.
One that shows the SUM the two columns only if it is positive, like this:
And the other that shows the sum only if it's negative:
Multiply 52.5 by 112% and you'll get 58.8, like this:
TIP: in Excel you can use percent in formulas, like I did in the formula above.
The following formula will return the average of all the cells that are bigger than 0 in range A1:A7 :
Turn on the filters by clicking on the filter button on the 'Data' ribbon.
Then open the drop down box for the formula that contains that column and un-check the 0 value.
This function will get you the left half of the string:
And this function will get you the right half of the string:
for example if you want to find the highest value in column A, you'll use the following formula:
To find the second highest value, just change the 1 in the previous formula to 2., like so:
For example, the following formula will sum all the values that are greater than 100 on column A
And it doesn't matter if there is a cell that contains zero or any other value in that range.
The following formula will extract the name for you:
=MID(A1,FIND(" ",A1)+1,FIND(",",A1)-FIND(" ",A1)-1)
The following image shows a list of state abbreviations and corresponding time zones.
The sheet automatically translates the state abbreviation in cell D4 to the time zone in E4 by using the following VLOOKUP formula
Its important to note that the range the VLOOKUP function uses is an absolute reference. You almost always need to use absolute reference when defining the lookup array because while the formula is likely to be copied and the lookup value reference may change, the lookup array range almost never changes.
If your sheet looks something like this:
Then the formula you use would be:
Note that this is an array formula and you need to use CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to enter it. You'll know you've done it right when you see curly brackets around it.
Your formula probably looks something like this:
If you copy this formula one cell down it will look like this:
Note that E2 changed to E3 which is good, you want the formula to lookup the value in the next row But...
The lookup range also changed to A3:C10, which is not good. Eventually the lookup range will change so that the original lookup array is not even included and than you'll get error values.
To prevent this, you need to turn the lookup range into an absolute reference range, like this:
This way you can copy the formula and have the reference to the lookup value change without changing the lookup array.
The following code will run the sorting subroutine when the workbook is opened:
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
And this subroutine will enable the autofilter functionality, clear all existing filters and then filter the data on column B:
Key:=Range("B1:B6"), SortOn:=xlSortOnValues, _
Order:=xlAscending, DataOption:= _
.Header = xlYes
.MatchCase = False
.Orientation = xlTopToBottom
.SortMethod = xlPinYin
And the end result will be this:
To highlight the cells that are 30 days or more before today's date, you should select cell B2 and use the following conditional formatting rule:
Then, copy the rule to the other cells using the brush tool (format painter) and you will get this result:
The function above will an empty value when the division formula returns an error.
="Insert into table1 values('" & A1 & "','"& B1 & "','" & C1 & "','" & D1 & "','" & E1 & "')"
Once you have this formula in Cell F1, copy it to Cells F2:F50000 and the formula will automatically adjust to create the right insert statements for you.
This is the formula used to achieve this:
Then copy the formula to cells C2:C5.
And finaly, sort the table on column C.
1. Select the cell
2. From the Home ribbon select 'Conditiional Formatting'
3. Then select 'Highlight Cell Rules'
4. Then select 'Greater than'
5. Then enter your number (minus one).
6. Select how you want to higlight the cell and...
7. Press OK
Let's assume that the names of the students are found in Column A and the Grades in Column B.
In this case, you function will look like this:
With the vlookup formula, it doesn't matter on which row the data is.
This will retrieve the grade in one class. Adapt this formula for the rest of the classes and you should be good to go.
Note: The reference to C3 (Tax Percent) is an absolute reference since we want to copy the formula down without having the reference to the Tax Percent cell change
Here is the first formula:
This SUMPRODUCT formula:
Returns the Tax Bracket percent based on the Gross Salary
And then it’s just a matter of simple multiplication to get the tax amount, as you can see here
